iOS 7 frustration leads to legal action

A fun one from our wacky friends stateside. A California man, Mark Menacher, is suing Apple over its controversial iOS7 iPhone and iPad operating system.

“Apple’s disregard for customer preferences in relation to iOS7 is corporate thuggery,” Menacher said in a statement published by Cnet.

“Steve Jobs was reportedly rough on company employees in pursuit of happy customers, but Tim Cook apparently cultivates a culture of contempt for customer satisfaction in pursuit of corporate profits. It is a policy that will eventually fail.”

The plaintiff has filed a small-claims complaint against Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook in the Superior Court of California in San Diego because he wants iOS7 removed from all of his family’s compatible devices – the latest version of iOS can not be downgraded within iTunes, or from on the device itself. The install file is automatically downloaded to iPhones and iPads  automatically when connected to a power source and a Wi-Fi connection. However the install file does not install iOS 7 on its own, user interaction is required.

Whilst there has been quite a large volume of criticism of the iOS 7 software – it is being adopted at record rates, with Mixpanel tracking adoption at 75%.
